Did you catch the sight of the Danube bursting its banks last week? Fueled by an onslaught of snow and rain, the water level surged, soaking the embankment. It peaked last Thursday, making transportation along the quay impossible with suspended tram lines. Despite the disruption, city dwellers and curious tourists flocked to the riverbanks to see the surreal scene. We Love Budapest photographer was also there capturing the raw power of Mother Nature reclaiming her dominion.

With a towering peak at 693 centimetres,  the 'Christmas flood' reached its highest point in Budapest on Wednesday night.  Witness the surreal spectacle through the lens of our We Love Budapest photographer, Attila Polyák.
