If you’re interested in the New York Palace’s history, we have many articles about both the palace and the cafe. The palace, which recently got a facelift, is also home to a five-star hotel that has been managed by Anantara Hotels Resorts & Spas group, which may sound familiar to those who’ve travelled to the Middle and Far East to places like Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, since 2020.
Budapest’s Grand Boulevard is a busy transportation hub, so the New York Palace’s location is excellent, as it’s easy to get pretty much anywhere in town from here within minutes. Stepping inside, you completely leave the busy boulevard behind and get a glimpse into Budapest’s Belle Époque era, as the building looks absolutely breathtaking. While you stand in awe at the entrance, the friendly and professional staff quickly comes and escorts you to a separate lift that takes you down to the spa, which is open to walk-in guests as well.
Haven of health
Relaxation starts already in the lift, as it’s not only stunnig, but sweet scents also linger in the air while you take your ’before’ selfie on your way downstairs. Once you get out of the lift, a real haven of health awaits with waving walls, calm beige colours, fantastic smells and quiet music. You can get changed and don your swimmers and a soft dressing gown straight away and go and explore the spa.
Spread over 500 square metres, there are altogether five massage rooms, including one especially designed for couples equipped with a private jacuzzi. Before or after your massage, you can relax in comfortable hanging chairs or soft day beds while sipping on some lemonade or tea. Opposite the relaxation room, you’ll find a spacious sauna, an aromatherapy steam cabin and multifunctional massage showers, while on the other side of the reception, there’s a 15-metre-long heated plunge pool with water jets that can massage your back.

Pampering treatments
The massages are absolutely muscle-melting, and here, during the length of your massage, the world complete revolves around you. You can customise your experience from choosing which oil you like best to how loud you want the music and how strong you want your massage to be. There are some extra acts of kindness as well here, including a warm towel they use to soak up the oils from your skin, and another mini version of it that they gently place on your eyes, if you’d like, so that the light will not bother you when you're lying on your back. Opting for a massage here is seriously recommended, as you’ll be in professional hands, feeling like a royal for an hour or so.
There’s a long list of treatments to choose from to recharge your body and soul, from Anantara signature massages to Hungarian Hévíz mud therapy, intense revilatlisation, detox ritual, express slimming and facials.

Active relaxation
If you need to get your cardio in, there’s a well-equipped fitness room in the hotel as well. Towels are provided, even cool ones in a fridge to place onto your sweaty skin. The interior and the machines are modern here, providing everything you need for a good workout.
A stay at the Anantara Hotel within Budapest’s grandiose New York Palace is recommended for multiple reasons, but the spa section is definitely one, as a bit of five-star pampering is almost compulsory when visiting the ’City of Spas’.
