The renovation of the Chain Bridge reached another milestone in December when cyclists, taxis and buses started using it again. Recently, another decision was made: the car-free traffic order stays permanently.
The renovation of the most iconic monument of Budapest, the Chain Bridge, is approaching the finish line (works are to end this autumn). Since December, cyclists, taxis and buses started using the bridge – a set-up we welcomed warmly, along with fellow citizens. The people of Budapest then went public with their preference in the form of an online survey (Budapest Residents' Assembly), and yesterday an official decision was made. The bridge remains car-free permanently - announced Gergely Karácsony, Mayor of Budapest.
