Brilliant steak spot Beerstro 14 moved to a new location, levelling up their overall vibes but keeping the old values and succulent steaks. Two years ago, when we reported on their opening on Rákóczi Square, we were treated to craft beers and flavoursome steaks, tasted real curiosities, and had a great time in a rustic setting dotted with funky details. Now we checked out their new unit in the impressive YBL Palace near Ferenciek Square. Great steaks and affordable prices remained, complemented by a sumptuous wine and cocktail list beside the beer selection, an elegant yet inviting interior, and a huge terrace that will be the star of summer parties.
The previous spot of Beerstro 14 had already attracted customers, partly because it puts steaks in the spotlight - which is not too common in Budapest. Usually, only one or two steak dishes are featured on the menu, or if you are looking for a steakhouse, you must dig deep into your pocket. Beerstro, on the other hand, can still offer great steaks without sacrificing quality for affordability.
“Good food, good beer, good people”
In 2020, Beerstro’s story began as a gastro pub on Grand Boulevard, where they quickly awakened the Budapest public’s demand for quality steaks. However, in a few years, they outgrew the boulevard, both in size and style and in February 2022, they moved to the prestigious YBL Palace near Ferenciek Square.
'We've had our eye on YBL Palace for years, as it’s perfectly located, has a huge terrace, and we can showcase something new both in terms of the guest space and the interior design. We’ve laid the foundations while on the boulevard, striving to work with the best ingredients, serve perfect food and provide impeccable service. We have carried all of these values with us, but now we have taken it to the next level,' shared the creators of Beerstro.

We were also very fond of the rustic style of the Grand Boulevard unit, but the YBL Palace has managed to find the perfect harmony of a chic atmosphere and a welcoming interior while retaining the charm of the previous location with its pleasant green colours, plant motifs, and the slogan “Good food, good beer, good people.” In addition, the history and architecture of the YBL Palace have been highlighted, with copies of designs and engravings from the archives decorating the interiors.
Steak for all
From the very beginning, Beerstro’s objective has been to show that steak is not a privilege, but a common right. So, without sacrificing quality, their aim to this day is to make it accessible to everyone,
who wants to have a good lunch or dinner with family, friends, or special ones in a wonderful atmosphere at reasonable prices.

If you are not familiar with the world of steaks, you are welcome to start your gastronomic exploration here. The experienced waiters will be happy to help you choose from the menu, which also includes eye-catching pictures to help you navigate your way through the dishes. From the starters to the soup, you can see that beef is indeed the star here, but the homemade beef carpaccio, the beef tartare, and the beef goulash soup are just a prelude to the gastronomic adventures that await you.
There are four types of steak on the menu: if you’re still experimenting, we highly recommend the classic New Zealand filet mignon, served with garlic and creamed spinach. The rib eye will also be familiar to many, with Brazilian flavours highlighted by blue cheese dressing and fried onion rings.
If you’re looking to take your steak experience to the next level, try the Argentinian Rump steak. It is topped with sun-dried thyme tomato Bernie sauce, artichoke crisp, pecorino shavings, and chimichurri. Finally, the menu features a real speciality, the Hungarian Hanger steak, a particularly exciting premium cut of meat, positioned between the sirloin and the ribs, topped with sweet potato wedges, bacon-wrapped asparagus, and pepper sauce.
And if you can’t make up your mind, try the steak platter for two, where you can sample New Zealand sirloin, Uruguayan rib eye, and Argentinian sirloin.

Of course, those who don’t necessarily come for the steaks but for the atmosphere are also catered for, so the menu includes fish, chicken, and even vegan options. We, for one, sampled a grilled branzino and were not disappointed with the taste experience.
Gastronomic adventures at reasonable prices
The degree of doneness is a matter of taste, but as we hadn’t had much experience, we trusted the chef, so much so that even the menu emphasises that medium and medium rare are the best for bringing out the flavours.
And when it comes to prices, they definitely play fair, with the special Hanger steak starting at HUF 7,690, the other courses around HUF 9,000, and the substantial steak platter for two for HUF 24,900. Thus, the Beerstro is fully in line with the Budapest bistros in its category.
Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced steak enthusiast, save the steak dinner for special occasions or stop in for lunch, you’re guaranteed a high-quality gastronomic adventure at a reasonable price.

So at Beerstro, we can forget the image of steakhouses with their fancy white tablecloths and 50 shades of luxury and enjoy a friendly, laid-back, and inviting steak experience. In addition to the variety of craft beers, there’s also an impressive wine list to match the YBL Palace’s sophisticated splendour, not to mention the excellent cocktails and eight different gin and tonics. The covered terrace will soon be open, and odds are the enchanting venue will become one of our favourite summer spots.
