The fireworks party due to have taken place on the national holiday of 20 August has been moved to this Saturday, 27 August. Traditionally, St Stephen's day is when spectacular fireworks in Hungary’s national colours of red, white and green burst across the night sky over Budapest. Bad weather forced this year's event to be postponed.

With rain pouring in Budapest all morning, the spectacular fireworks display to celebrate the national holiday of St Stephen had to be postponed. Now the event will go ahead a week later, on Saturday, 27 August, still at the traditional time of 9pm. For the latest up-to-date news, see here.
