This year, a Christmas market and concerts at Várkert Bazár will get you in the mood for the holiday season.
If the markets on Vörösmarty Square and at the Basilica aren't enough to light up your festive spirit, you're invited to stroll up to Várkert Bazár and give it another go. This year marks the eighth edition of Várkert Bazár’s Advent programme. The line-up includes an arts and crafts fair, family activities, and a large-scale of festive productions on the four Sundays of Advent (starting on November 27th). Before the evening events, the performers will light a candle for the Advent wreath and share some festive thoughts to make the holiday season even more special.
Among the highlights, the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble will evoke Advent folk traditions and there will be a festive concert series. János "James" Karácsony will perform legendary LGT hits as well as his own songs, Vera Tóth will take to the stage with opera singers Erika Miklósa and Gyula Rab. Orsi Kozma will be the guest of the Hot Jazz Band, while Budapest Bár will celebrate its 15th birthday with a double concert.
There will also be a number of activities in the Palace District of Buda such as a Christmas market and an open-air exhibition at the Fountain of the Fishing Children, the "Sisi Walking Tour" around the castle to explore the reborn sites, and craft activities for children in St Stephen's Hall.
