For the first full month of the summer season, June, 1,208,169 travellers were recorded at Budapest Airport. This is 82% compared to the same month in 2019, meaning that the airport is approaching pre-pandemic traffic numbers.

Although more than a million passengers flew into and out of Budapest during June, the airport did not experience the kind of disruptions seen at other European hubs, most notably around London.

In June, an average of 15-20 flights a week were cancelled by airlines for operational reasons, with 68% of flights departing on time or with delays averaging 30 minutes.

Currently, Budapest Airport serves 108 cities and 119 airports, operated by 30 airlines. Popular destinations in June were Barcelona, Antalya and Istanbul, but London, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, Frankfurt and Paris remain firmly in the top ten.

A new luggage check-in facility in the city centre should further smooth the travelling experience of passengers flying out of Budapest.
