Six manul kittens born at Budapest Zoo in March are developing nicely as hunting instincts slowly kick in. Usually found around the Himalayas, Caucasus and southern Siberia, manul cats reach adult size in about six or seven months. Budapest Zoo has been keeping these densely furred felines since 2013 as part of a captive breeding programme.
Altana and her five brothers, Aldan, Algyr, Arkas, Aysen and Aytas, were all born at the end of March. Since then, their body weight has tripled and they’ll soon be ready to join the adult world early next year.
