Fields of bright poppies growing wild around Rákospalota on the northern outskirts of Budapest are attracting local families to spend the day in the great outdoors. Our photographer Gábor Szabó captured the springtime scenes.

Anyone looking for a colourful day out, where the kids can run around happily, should head to a large patch of land between the Lidl supermarket, Szilas stream and the M3 slip road in Rákospalota, District XV. Here’s what it looks like:
