The colours of the Ukrainian flag now feature on a famous mural created for Budapest’s first Színes Város festival back in 2014. Brightening a firewall on Dob utca in District VII, Love Thy Neighbour was painted by London-based murallist Luke Embden and featured two red hearts. To express solidarity with Ukraine, and with Embden’s blessing, the Színes Város team has just recoloured them yellow and blue.

"It is a very difficult time for all of us, so we are trying to express our solidarity with Ukraine by whatever means we have,” says Péter Flór of Színes Város. "In addition to the wall painting, we will soon be creating a colouring game based on the paintings in Budapest, which we will donate to the Ukrainian children fleeing here to lodging wherever needed. We feel that if this initiative encourages others, if we can do only a small thing, we will do it.”
