Just unveiled by the tram stop at Döbrentei tér, on the Buda side of Elizabeth Bridge, Zileat Brunch & Bistro is all things to all meal times.
Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with a Buda view at newly opened Zileat Brunch & Bistro
Zília Mocsári has always loved breakfasts and brunches since she was little, so with the opening of Zileat Brunch & Bistro, her dream came true, to have a place she would always like to sit in. herself.
Zileat awaits latecomers with breakfasts from 8am to 3pm, on a terrace of the narrowest building in the Tabán quarter, with a view of the Statue of Lady Liberty and Gellért Hill. From noon to 10pm, you can choose from its bistro food selection.
Quiet and secluded, Zileat allows you to watch Budapest go by without the constant traffic din humming around Elizabeth Bridge. The place is tiny but cosy, with only a few tables inside and outside.
Among the brunch dishes, Eggs Benedict (HUF 3,090) comes with homemade English muffins, Hollandaise foam, two perfectly creamy poached eggs, spinach, lime and salted salmon.
The menu also offers English breakfasts (HUF 3,490) with homemade sausage and Serrano chips, and burrata (HUF 4,190) with milk loaf, burrata, tomato salad and pesto. Pulled-pork sandwiches (HUF 3,490) come with roast pork chuck, emmental cheese, aioli, onion jam and chili oil.
If you arrive once brunch is over, it’s no problem. There’s an à la carte bistro menu available from noon to 10pm, featuring gambas pil pil (HUF 4,990) with prawns, chili, garlic and parsley, rib-eye steak (HUF 5,990) or a hamburger trio (HUF 3,890) in beef, liver or goats’ cheese versions, all served with coleslaw salad.
As we all know, every good meal is brought to a close by a not-too-sweet dessert, and as Bridget Jones’ Mark Darcy insisted, you can’t have enough blue food, so we first we ordered Your own beach bowl (HUF 2,890), ideal for those with food allergies. Contents include mango, banana, spirulina (a type of algae containing large amounts of protein, vitamins and minerals), almond milk, homemade granola, seasonal fruit, grated coconut peels and chia seeds.
For a serious blow-out, order Dreamy crêpes (HUF 2,190), mouth-watering, creamy vanilla-and-cottage-cheese pancakes with yuzu.
If you’re a late riser at weekends or taking the day off midweek, brunch here will sort you out. If you’re walking around Tabán, this is handy stop-off, for lunch or dinner. And then there’s that view of Buda’s historic landmarks...
