Having previously also worked with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson on the director’s 2018 hit thriller Assassination Nation, Hungarian cinematographer Marcell Rév showed the full range of his talent for the Trouble Don’t Last Always episode, a poignant Christmas special focusing on lead character Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya.
Rév will be facing stiff competition when the Emmy awards are announced on 19 September. Also in line for the Outstanding Cinematography prize are Adriano Goldman and Jeffrey Jurr, who worked on acclaimed period dramas The Crown and Bridgerton for Netflix.
A graduate of Budapest’s renowned SzFE University of Theatre & Film Arts, Rév recently worked with Oscar-nominated Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi on The Story of My Wife, just premiered at Cannes, and on the Titanic-inspired video for We’re Good, a 2021 release by pop star Dua Lipa.
