Budapest’s main Christmas markets will both be held this year and open this month by the Basilica and on main Vörösmarty tér. Certain restrictions will be in place but the usual artisanal artefacts and delicacies will be available.

This year there will again be a Christmas fair at Vörösmarty tér and by the Basilica. Both open on 19 November. Immunity certificates will be required for each.

The ceremonial opening also takes place on Vörösmarty tér on 19 November, with communal candle lighting and children’s activities. Vendors will be offering special family menus and one-course meals for 1,500 forints.

At the Basilica, you’ll find a photo exhibition, an ice rink and a self-catering vending machine. A light show will be projected onto the church every afternoon from 4.30pm.
