Gulf-based budget airline flydubai has started direct flights with Budapest, just as air travel is picking up and heading towards the kind of numbers last seen before the pandemic. Four flights a week will operate between Dubai International Airport and the Hungarian capital, helping to support the city’s hospitality industry as it recovers from shutdown.

Serving more than 90 destinations, including 20 in Europe, low-cost airline flydubai has added Budapest to its roster four times a week. The move should help bolster tourism in the usually busy run-up to Christmas here in the Hungarian capital.

Equally, Dubai has just unveiled Expo 2020, held over from lockdown, and due to run through March 2022.

Non-stop flights between the two destinations take five hours and 30 minutes.
