Combining picnic spot and goulash cook-out, the Árasztó embankment in Újbuda is the latest Danube development set up by urban activists Valyo. Sunday, 5 September, saw its opening, with a laid-back, family-friendly event.
According to urban activists Valyo, the connection between Budapest and the Danube is still not as close as they would like. Now the team behind many projects that have helped bring the river back into daily life has a new initiative.
Riverside Árasztó út in Albertfalva, Újbuda, is where Valyo has sited a public picnic space, lining 400 metres of the embankment. Visitors are welcome to join the Valyo team on Sunday and spread out the picnic blanket or help stir the goulash pot.
