Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has just announced that café and restaurant terraces may open once 3.5 million people have been vaccinated in Hungary – a target set to be hit around the second half of next week, possibly Friday, 23 April. To help long-suffering café owners and restaurateurs, fees for using their terrace will be waived.

The news that many have been waiting for, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has pledged that terraces may open after 3.5 million people in Hungary have been vaccinated. With the 3 million figure passed earlier this week, projections suggest that this next threshold will be reached around Friday, 23 April.

The Prime Minister also announced that the opening of schools will be gradual, so secondary-school pupils will only be returning in May, while primary schools will reopen from Monday, 19 April.
