Just opened by the Mammut mall, the Millenáris Széllkapu Park has been a long time in development. Now shoppers and local residents can enjoy a green space of 35,000 square metres, with a lake, a grove of cherry trees and a playground. Below ground, a car park accommodates 500 vehicles.
The fate of the former Ganz factory at the Millenáris Park has long been a topic of debate. Long demolished, its new function is an eco-friendly one – not only will the Millenáris Széllkapu Park created here provide relaxing green retreat, its trees and empty space will allow for wind to counteract the traffic fumes of busy Margit körút nearby. Alfresco events can be staged here and a natural green wall set on a 350-tonne steel frame acts as a relaxation and observation point.
