Unveiled in 2019 after a near five-year renovation, the Párisi udvar has already been the recipient of several prestigious international awards – so it’s little surprise to see another one just added to the collection. This time, she has won the audience prize in the Architecture and Preservation category, as part of Architizer Magazine’s A+ Award competition. Four Hungarian buildings in total took part, all making it to the finals round.
The Párisi udvar was built in 1910, designed by Henrik Schmahl in a distinctly unique Art Nouveau style, with Arabic, Moorish and Gothic styles all interwoven. The building is complete with Zsolnay ceramics and glass windows by Miksa Róth. At the time of its construction, it was one of the largest ceramic-clad buildings in Europe! The building has been remodelled several times, and is currently a luxury five-star hotel.
