A tender has just been issued for the renovation of one of Budapest’s most popular attractions, the Zugliget Chairlift. Opened in 1970, this panoramic two-seater which glides up János Hill last received a major renovation in 1970. The new Chairlift is planned to be operational by 2022.

In the air for some time, the renewal of the Zugliget Chairlift, which has been providing panoramic views over Buda for the last 50 years, is now imminent. A tender has been issued, with a deadline of 8 June, and the renovation work should be completed by 2022.

Although the location of the Chairlift will not change, the two station buildings, on Jánoshegyi út and Erzsébet kílátó út, will be knocked down. The two-seater chairs should also be replaced by four-seater ones.
