Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has announced that a new curfew of 8pm-5am is now in effect from midnight on Tuesday, only allowing residents to leave their home for compelling reasons.
Many details of the curfew were not specified, leaving citizens to wonder about whether or not they would be permitted to leave the home in order to walk their dogs. Péter Ovádi, Fidesz MP and Commissioner for Animal Welfare, has since cleared up the confusion on a recent Facebook post. In it, he details that dog owners may walk their dog after 8pm, within 500 metres of their residence. The MP also suggested that the opening hours of dog runs should be considered and regulated by the municipalities at their discretion.
