The expansion of cycle lanes in Budapest continues – now another has been created along Ferenc körút, the section of the Grand Boulevard between Petőfi Bridge and the Corvin Quarter. It should also provide cyclists with more connectivity between Buda and Pest.
The new bike lanes in each direction on Ferenc körút enhance the cycle-friendly development of the Grand Boulevard as a whole. For motorists, most of the current parking spots will remain, but a new parking area will be created on nearby Közraktár utca to replace the ones that will now disappear.
When the shutdown started, temporary cycle routes were set along on Budapest’s most notable roads, most notably the Grand Boulevard. Within a couple of days, cycle traffic reached that of Múzeum körút, which had had a bike lane for a decade. According to the latest available data, the lane is used by cyclists around 4,000 times a day, making the Grand Boulevard one of the busiest bike routes in Budapest.
