Budapest Public Transport (BKK) have been working on the expansion of cycle routes around the city to meet the increased demand. A map just published shows how the new network will look.
The coronavirus has affected Budapest on all fronts – the workforce has shifted to home office, schools are closed, only vital travel is recommended, and those who must continue to commute are looking for alternative options to public transport.
The city has seen a surge in bicycle traffic – healthier for the commuter, better for the environment. This has led Budapest Public Transport (BKK) to plan a much-needed expansion of existing cycle routes across town.
A map just published by BKK shows exactly where these new routes are planned. Some, such as along Bartók Béla út, have already been completed.
