The successful opera singer, also a professional piano player, left the company after becoming a mother, and established Sing-Along Kids Budapest, offering English music events for children in Budapest, along with her then 22-month-old daughter. Cleo has been running her interactive singing and movement classes at many locations, until she started a Bachelor's degree in pre-school education at ELTE. Now, she runs two classes on the Buda side, and will receive her diploma next summer.
Cleo is of Greek-Cypriot origin, and back in Cyprus she lived next door to a young girl with special needs. Here in Budapest, she lives in the XI District, near the Pető Institute, the world-renowned school for special-needs children. Feeling she had to help, Cleo held the first Sing Along Kids & Baby Concert Charity Picnic in 2018, which has now become an annual tradition.
This will be the third year that Cleo is organising the event, which will take place on 29 July at 10am in the garden of the Pető Institute. (Should there be inclement weather, it will be postponed to the following week.) Another such event will also take place at the end of August, and Cleo hopes that many expat and Hungarian mums will come together with their young children to share the fun of singing nursery rhymes, doing arts and crafts, and playing with parachutes, bubbles and other fun games. A special Baby Concert will feature the recorder and guitar.
Entry to the event is free, with a donation box accepting whatever attendees feel they can contribute according to their means. Everyone is welcome, and the recommended age of the children is babies up to kindergarten age.
