Szentendre is one of the most popular day trips from Budapest, accessible by boat, HÉV train, bus, car and now… bicycle. While cyclists have always enjoyed the long riverside ride out of town in the direction of this former artists’ colony, until now they have had to stop some six kilometres outside and complete their journey by other means.
From the end of this summer, all that will change once the whole cycle route is paved and facilitated by rest stops and lighting. Also part of the 850 million-forint development, a cycle bridge is being built over the floodplain area of Dera Creek.
