Over this Whitsun weekend, the Chairlift that climbs up János Hill in Buda will be open from Saturday through Monday, 30 May-1 June. From then on, this popular attraction will operate at weekends and on public holidays through June and July.

Conveying pairs of passengers between Zugliget and the road leading up to the Erzsébet Lookout Tower, the Chairlift (Libegő) is a fun, alternative mode of transport in the Buda hills. Calmly gliding up the side of János Hill in about 15 minutes, it provides panoramic views of the Buda surroundings.

Opened 50 years ago, the Chairlift is also soon due for an overhaul – as we reported recently.

Closed by the shutdown on 28 March, the Chairlift will be welcoming visitors according to the rules of social distancing when sitting in the buffet or waiting in the queue, when masks must be worn. Tickets can only be purchased from vending machines. You can reach the Chairlift by taking bus 291 from Nyugati station to its final stop.
