Representing 35 wineries and offering more than 100 types of still, sweet and sparkling wines, Hungary’s best female winemakers will be on hand for the annual wine-tasting at the Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge on 7 March. Master classes will also be held, while author Edit Szabó will be signing copies of her book, Gyengébb? Nem! (‘Weaker? No!’), whose stories detail the lives of Hungarian winemakers. Ticket prices (advance 8,000 HUF until midnight on 6 March, 10,000 HUF at the door) include wine-tasting, water and snacks concocted by the kitchen of the Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge.
Alternatively, combined tickets (16,000 HUF) are also available for the annual Winemaker of the Year event that is taking place on the same day at the Larus Restaurant. The 50 best winemakers in the Carpathian Basin and previous winners will come together to decide which producer is this year’s best.
