New residents have arrived at Budakeszi Wildlife Park. Set in natural woodland just beyond the Budapest city limits, this expansive menagerie welcomes eight striped wild boars newly born at the zoo. Petting them is not allowed, but you can snap photos of these cute creatures.

In the last few days, a pair of sows have given birth to a herd of healthy little piglets at this popular leisure park just the other side of the city limits from north-west Buda. The piglets join the young mouflons and little goats also recently born here.

According to park management, wild boars often become violent when it comes to protecting their young, therefore visitors are warned to refrain from petting these miniature creatures. Instead, zoo guests are encouraged to snap photos of these highly photogenic piglets.

The Budakeszi Wildlife Park provides a natural habitat to more than 200 native and exotic wild animals across nearly 30 hectares. Introduced to the public in 1979, the establishment comprises expansive forested grounds for brown bears, wolves, jackals, raccoons, water buffalo, many bird species and domestic animals to roam relatively freely, offering a more suitable environment for its inhabitants than a traditional urban zoo would.

You can reach the park by taking bus 22A or 222 from Széll Kálmán tér and alight at the Szanatórium utca stop. From there, a pleasant walk along a rustic pathway leads you to the park.
