Our regular round-up for the upcoming weekend offers plenty of suggestions for where to go, what to do and who should not be missed during the next three days. There are always so many happenings to choose from in Budapest – exhibitions, parties, live music, festivals and more – but here is our pick of the bunch:

Friday

2pm - 10pm: Budapest Wine Festival at the Buda Castle

At Budapest’s biggest and most scenic wine festival, held between Friday and Sunday, visitors can discover Hungary’s different wine regions and finest glasses of reds, whites and rosés. Traditional festival dishes and gourmet specialities also feature to match your mood and drink. The event is also complete with performances by local artists and a breathtaking panorama over Pest stretching out below. More details

Noon - : Budapest Classics Film Marathon at various venues

This weekend, the Budapest Classics Film Marathon lights up movie screens across the Hungarian capital with masterfully restored evergreen flicks. Dozens of outstanding Hungarian and international movies of the past decades feature at cinemas citywide. More details

4pm - 9pm: Food Truck Show at Kincsem Park

This amazing alfresco food fair gathers the most street-food trucks in one place on Saturday and Sunday. Juicy burgers, hearty and heavenly sausages, vegan bites, cold beer and many other street-food treats await everyone. Street artists, musicians, greyhound and horse races, colourful markets and children’s attractions entertain crowds, and open-air film screeningsend the night. More details

6pm - : Lumen Kifordulás at Kis Lumen

For three days, Lumen fills Mikszáth Kálmán tér with fun, dance, live music for all and of course, tasty drinks. Everyone is welcome to the Lumen until the evening, while afterwards, DJs spin discs at Tinta on Friday and Saturday.

8pm - 5am: Farewell to Kuplung at Kuplung

One of the most significant spots of the local underground scene, Kuplung is sadly closing down. Head down there and say goodbye this weekend, when a mini festival bids farewell to this venerable venue with countless concerts and free parties afterwards.

Saturday

Noon - 6pm: Gallery Weekend Budapest at various venues

For one weekend, contemporary art is the focus in Budapest. You can attend presentations, openings and guided tours – and all for free. Gallery WeekendBudapest is a unique opportunity for art lovers to peek into the city’s sparkling scene and for artists to showcase their work and reach a wider audience. 2pm – : Lick The Click! Sunburst x Isu, Crimson, Chrom at A38

The DJs of Lick The Click!, Isu, Crimson and Chrom, are daredevils of the dancefloor. They mix up house, punk funk and dubby disco like nobody else, while delicious drinks flow constantly. Sooner or later, this combination sees everyone end up on the dance floor.

5pm - 4am: Black Cat White Cat Wedding at Dürer Kert

On Saturday, Dürer Kert hosts an authentic Bulgarian-Serbian wedding themed party. Go wild with the best Serbian, Gypsy, Russian and ethno-electro music, enjoy a feast, get a tattoo, play in the raffle and find out your fate from the fortune teller. Balkan mayhem!

8pm - : Live music night at Baalbek

Enjoy Oriental sounds provided by Ádám Hosman and János Gerzson alongside authentic Lebanese cuisine at the first of two special weekend nights at Baalbek, the top-notch Levantine restaurant of the Buddha-Bar Hotel. Dishes include mezzes, harira lamb soup, freshly grilled meat and fish, and traditional desserts such as kunafa pastries and um ali bread pudding. The next live-music night takes place on September 21st. 10pm - 4am: Queens Party #4 - Queens of R'n'B at Budapest Park

Party under the starry skies on Saturday night at Budapest Park. Shake it to the greatest hits of the uncrowned queens of pop and enjoy delicious drinks. If you are among the first 1,000 partygoers to arrive, your present is a free vodka shot to set the mood for the night.

11pm - 6am: Wannabe XL - Best of '90s and '00s at Terem Budapest

Those who want to surf the wave of nostalgia for the ’90s and who might like to zig-a-zig-ah can venture into the pop goldmine of Terem on Saturday. Dance late into the night to the hottest and most awkward hits of Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and Girls Aloud that you all secretly love.

Sunday

9am - : Wizz Air Half Marathon at Városliget

On Sunday you can complete ahalf marathon alongside thousands of other eager athletes while enjoying Budapest’s splendid scenery along the way. You can count on several refreshment stops and musical points, while pace runners help you hit your PB. More details

10am - 9pm: Dance Marathon at Trafó

If you’re thinking about taking dance seriously, but not sure about which style, the Dance Marathon at Trafó is perfect for investigating and learning the first steps. You can try various dance styles and movement-based training without fear or commitment. The team works with professional teachers and artists and many of their workshops are English-friendly. 10am - 4pm: Kiskertpiac at Anker't

At this eco-friendly floral fair, fragrant flowers, plants and beautiful bouquets await visitors amid an easygoing atmosphere. Enthusiastic gardeners gladly provide everyone with creative inspiration and gardening tips and tricks. Gastro and design products, organic fashion items and natural cosmetics also feature.

11am – 7pm: WAMP Design Fair at Erzsébet tér

WAMP is a regularcommunity event and design fair, a meeting spot for creative and trendsetting young talents. On Sunday, the last outdoor fair of the year will be held on Erzsébet tér, where local designers showcase their limited-edition collections offering clothes, jewellery, bags and other accessories.

7:30pm - 10pm: Cast Away at the Bem Cinema “Wiilsoon!” Cast Away is a true classic. On Sunday, you can watch it again on the big screen at Budapest’s small and cosy Bem Cinema. Cheer once again for Chuck to be reunited with his loved ones after spending years on a deserted island, living through storms, fear, hunger and a very unpleasant incident with an ice skate.
