The current facility will also be affected by the new development of a multi-storey car park at Budapest Airport. From October 1st, drivers will be requested to use alternative parking spots at the airport instead of the current Terminal Parking that will become a construction site. Signposts will aid navigation.
Changes will also impact the car-rental facility currently located at the Central Parking area. Customers will be requested to pick up and drop off their rental cars at the parking lot behind the hotel. The customer-service desk at the car park will move to the temporary Terminal Parking spot from mid-October. PRM parking for those with limited mobility will also be shifted to the new Terminal Parking area.
Cars stationed long-term in the Terminal Parking area will need to be moved from October 15th. Access to Premium Parking immediately in front of the terminals will not be affected.
Budapest Airport is becoming an increasingly important travel hub for Central Europe. Its modernisation project BUD 2020 comes in the wake of record-breaking traffic at the airport, which registered more than 13 million passengers in 2017. Recently it received recognition from the Airports Council International (ACI) for being carbon-neutral, becoming the first airport in the region to be granted such an award.
