Many Budapest sightseers never realize that directly beneath the city, a natural labyrinth of interconnected caverns provides adventurous explorers with a massive playground to climb around in. One recent visitor didn’t miss the opportunity to tour Buda’s Pál-völgyi Cave, featuring many intriguing rock formations that can only be discovered by scrambling and squeezing through tight crevasses and clandestine crannies – and along the way, this intrepid tourist shot high-definition footage of the experience, posting it in a new episode of “Broshar’s Adventures”.

American backpacker Derik Broshar founded his “Broshar’s Adventures” YouTube channel in 2009, and since then he’s posted numerous videos of worldwide escapades like snorkeling in Iceland, night trekking in search of blue flames on Indonesia’s Mt. Ijen, and touring the Korean Peninsula’s demilitarized zone. One of Broshar’s most recent releases is his mini-movie of a trip deep into Budapest’s Pál-völgyi Cave, where groups don coveralls and miner’s helmets to clamber through long maze of interconnected caverns, featuring fascinating geological phenomena and fossils of sea creatures from eons ago. Check out the short video below:
