In our weekly series “The Saturday Gig”, we highlight one special performance happening on Saturday night in Budapest – if you have no plans, you do now!

Intim Torna Illegál concert at Akvárium Klub – January 20th, 8pm

THE BAND: Powerful rhythms and resounding vocals dominate the alternative-rock sound of Intim Torna Illegál, one of Hungary’s most popular bands among fist-pumping festivalgoers and dancing concert crowds. Since Intim Torna Illegál (meaning “illegal intimate gymnastics” in Hungarian) formed in 2010, front man Péter Dorogi led the quartet to resounding success and frequent radio play nationwide, while their music videos get millions of views on YouTube. With a wide repertoire of original songs that are almost certain to make any listener bop their head to the uplifting beats, Intim Torna Illegál performs shows that are perfect for a fun night out.

THE VENUE: There is no Budapest club with a more central location than Akvárium Klub, located beneath downtown Pest’s Erzsébet Square. The venue is a massive underground complex featuring multiple performance halls, with its central chamber located beneath a glass ceiling holding up a man-made lake, making this a truly unique locale capable of hosting large-scale concerts and international conferences alike. During warmer months, the outdoor tables on Akvárium Klub’s giant stairway is one of the city’s most popular hangouts.

THE SHOW:Intim Torna Illegál is no stranger to Akvárium Klub – the band held a huge album-release party here in 2014. Since this is the band’s first gig of 2018, the scene will fill up pretty quickly, but as of Saturday lunchtime, some tickets are still available for tonight’s show; check out the Akvárium Klub website for more info.
