US Ambassador Colleen Bell has accepted a challenge from her fellow American diplomats for tonight’s European Football Championship game pitting Hungary’s national team against Austria, displaying some impressive soccer skills in the process. The country’s top representative from the United States seemed to enjoy talking a little trash to her counterpart envoys before repeatedly heading the ball in front of a Budapest statue of Magyar football legend Ferenc Puskás.

The US Embassy in Budapest posted a video featuring Ambassador Colleen Bell accepting the challenge proposed by Austrian US Ambassador Alexa Wesner – she promised

a box of Grüner Veltliner for the ambassadors of the countries that will play Austria in case they win. With the arrival of the UEFA European Football Championships, the ambassadors of the participating countries were proposed with a challenge, and now the US Ambassador of Hungary has joined too, challenging ambassadors Barber and Sherman with a video.

The video was filmed at the square next to the Ferenc Puskás statue in Óbuda, where the ambassador, dressed in Hungarian-team training clothes with a football under her arm, told how she roots for the Hungarian team. She relates the story about the game when, in 1945, Budapest beat Austria with a 5:2 victory; then she says in case the Hungarians don’t beat the Austrians, she will send two Hungarian delicacies: pogácsa scones and a bottle of pálinka. Bell is proud that the Hungarian team made it into the 2016 UEFA Euro Championships, and tonight she will cheer for the team with the huge crowds that will surely fill the viewing area at Szabadság Square.
