Hungary’s August heat wave was washed away in a matter of minutes by a mighty thunderstorm that hit the Magyar metropolis on Monday. The power went out in several districts (and remains out in some, as of press time), numerous public-transport vehicles broke down, city underpasses and some shopping centers were flooded by knee-high water, and roads caved in, leaving much of the city in chaos.
