Extensive renovations to the Hungarian Parliament House are now completed, with all sides now looking like new, and a state-of-the-art lighting system installed to let this architectural marvel literally shine. Finally Imre Steindl's neo-Gothic building - an icon of Budapest - is bathing in light on all sides so that its stunning design can be seen from any angle. While previously only the Danube-facing side was lit at night and parts of the building were always covered in scaffolding, now we can see the Parliament as it was intended. From Kossuth Square (which was also recently refurbished), visitors can get right up close to the building, which is especially beautiful at night.
Illuminating the historic building in a romantic yellow light, exactly 764 floodlight bulbs are strategically placed on the facade and in surrounding plants. These beautiful images capture the new look of an iconic sight in the Hungarian capital.
