Yesterday afternoon, a historic building at District VI's Kodály Körönd caught fire, sending billows of smoke over Andrássy Avenue. The roof structure was destroyed in about half an hour, but luckily the firefighters managed to quench the flames before they could spread. The building was declared to be uninhabitable because of the damage, so its 30 residents can return to their homes only after major repairs. There is no official information about the origin of the fire. We Love Budapest's photojournalists were on the scene.
