Have you ever noticed the black and yellow boat sailing down the Danube with a taxi sign on it? Chances are that you have already seen these water taxis as this is the second season they have been in service. The taxis that can take a maximum of ten people are cruising from April to late November. A sailor and the captain welcome everyone on board – whether it’s about the crew of a bachelorette party or about the Danube lovers who are on their way Szentendre for a trip.

From Venice with love

Many people claim that the river Danube could offer a lot of opportunities as far as public transportation is concerned. Instead of the bridges, the roads that are running along the banks and the cruising ships, there should be other alternatives that could improve the traffic of the city. This year Flow – Hív a Duna! and the BKV boat made attempts to bring the people closer to the river.

The idea of the Dunarama boats was also based on similar concepts. Botond Eőry created two luxurious Venice-inspired boats himself; just to make sure that he will get a result that is nothing less, than perfect in every aspect. Ever since he built the ships they are running along from Szentendre to Kopaszi-gát (Kopaszi Dam).

Water taxis?Dunarama is quite like a taxi – it has a limited capacity, you can rent it all by yourself if you’d like to and you can get from A to B, let’s say, from Vigadó to Szentendre. It’s probably also one of the most elegant ways of enjoying a Budapestsightseeing; you rent the bout for an hour, you sail along the river in your own pace, you choose your own companions, you stop wherever you’d like to, you can even listen to some music and of course you will be served by the sailor and the captain. Luxury on board with a nice Budapestview. And last but not least there is yet another alternative – you can organize your very own party; invite your friends and just enjoy the night.

Playlist – Dunarama trackHigh-speed, a gorgeous view of the city, comfy seats on board and the hint of luxury – this is what it’s all about when it comes to sailing on one of these water taxis. There’s no crowd, no one’s around so you just have to enjoy the freshness of the water. Another Dunarama boat is already being built by the way – it will be a lot bigger and less fancy, but at least it will offer cheaper prices and better opportunities for those who are on a more moderate budget. The employees of the surrounding office buildings, the businessmen and businesswomen will probably be in favour of this alternative, not to mention the tourists who are looking for more comfort while they are on their holiday.

Before you do anything, you should try the scheduled rides of Dunarama to Szentendre – you'll love it for sure!
