A calm, light-filled coffee spot has quietly opened just off Vigadó tér, offering quality coffee, simple food and a genuine sense of home. Csupor is the long-held dream of a former athlete couple, now realised in the heart of the city.

Tucked away on Galamb utca, Csupor is run by Telegdy-Kapás Boglárka and Telegdy Ádám, a married couple who spent years in competitive sport before turning towards hospitality. While Ádám is still active as an athlete, opening a café had been a shared dream for a long time - one they’ve now brought to life with quiet confidence.

The space is bright and inviting, with plenty of natural light and a predominantly white, minimalist interior that feels modern without being sterile. The design is inspired by their own home, with the aim of making guests feel comfortable and unhurried - as if stepping into someone’s living space rather than a conventional city café. Even the name reflects this mindset: csupor is an old Hungarian word meaning a mug, chosen for its warmth and simplicity.

The menu keeps things deliberately focused. Alongside carefully roasted coffee, Csupor serves toasted sandwiches made with sourdough bread, working exclusively with small local bakeries. Fillings are kept simple but well thought out — including ham or cheese paired with dried tomatoes - letting quality ingredients do the talking. Desserts follow the same approach, with pistachio-based sweets and tiramisu among the current offerings. The team are also experimenting with kombucha, which may soon find a permanent place on the menu.

One small but telling detail sets Csupor apart: there is no sugar available at all. Guests who prefer a sweeter coffee are offered honey instead - a conscious choice that fits the café’s natural, pared-back philosophy and focus on mindful habits.

Despite being located just steps from Vigadó tér and the Danube promenade, Csupor feels pleasantly removed from the surrounding bustle. It’s an easy stop for weekday coffee breaks and a relaxed choice for slower weekend mornings. Opening hours reflect this everyday rhythm: weekdays from 8am to 5pm, and weekends from 9am to 4pm.

Rather than trying to stand out loudly, Csupor does the opposite - and that’s exactly its strength. It’s a café built around care, consistency and the idea that sometimes all you really need is good coffee, daylight and a place that feels like home.
