The new opening comes as no surprise
When it was announced that the Margit Street location would close, it was also made clear that the goodbye wasn't final - only the location would change, with plans to return on the other side of the Danube, on Radnóti Miklós Street.

The owner couple, Béla Dékány and Réka Dékány, found a spacious, sunlit Újlipótváros location in great condition for the brunch spot, which they gave a subtle "Törökméz touch" before reopening at the start of 2026. Guests quickly filled the tables from day one, and it hasn't slowed since - even weekday mornings during working hours are surprisingly busy. Alongside the quality food and drinks, the warm, friendly hospitality also plays a key role, especially in a neighbourhood where competition is strong, yet the familiar name and proven favourites continue to draw a crowd.

What worked stays
The menu keeps all the items that proved popular at the Buda location. All baked goods are made in-house, from bread to English muffins. A visually appealing pastry counter also adds to the space, filled with croissants and other treats to go with your coffee.

Among the more substantial breakfast options, the avocado toast with romesco sauce (HUF 3,950) comes topped with grilled goat's cheese and a poached egg, with bacon or salmon available as extras. The French classic croque monsieur (HUF 3,950) is made with soft, house-made brioche, layered with Stelcz ham, wholegrain mustard, béchamel, Gruyère, and finished with a fried egg, best enjoyed with a side of fresh salad. The Törökméz grilled cheese (HUF 4,450), served in crispy grilled sourdough, features a special cheese blend and a house-made oregano pesto, while the roast beef sandwich (HUF 4,750) stands out with whiskey-marinated beef, sriracha mayo, and provolone cheese.

The three-egg spinach and feta omelette (HUF 3,200), already on the menu back in 2015, remains a staple, served with sourdough bread and a fresh mixed salad. The Turkish eggs (HUF 3,850) are hard to skip, if only for the name alone when visiting Törökméz. Creamy tahini labneh, poached eggs, and grilled red peppers come together for both striking flavours and presentation, finished with a touch of paprika oil and herbs, and best enjoyed with toast instead of cutlery.

The vegan coconut milk semolina pudding (HUF 3,550) is a soft, buttery-textured cream, silky and lightly sweet, lifted by the freshness of passion fruit and other fruits. For those who don't avoid dairy, Törökméz's cottage cheese dumplings (HUF 2,950), served with cinnamon sour cream and seasonal fruit, are a reliable choice. The pastry counter, rivaling that of top bakeries, offers everything from carrot cake to pistachio rolls, all made in-house.

What’s in the glass?
They keep two types of Casino Mocca coffee in the grinders at all times: one lighter and one darker roast. For filter coffee, they currently serve a Kenyan variety, while the house espresso is a Brazilian coffee with plum, dark chocolate, and hazelnut notes, representing a more classic profile. At the time of our visit, the second option was a Rwandan coffee with raspberry, rosehip, and pomelo notes, which worked perfectly in a refreshing iced espresso tonic. This selection changes regularly depending on what's available.

The lemonades and iced teas are packed with fruit, and there's also a selection of freshly squeezed juices for those skipping alcohol. If you're in the mood for a morning Aperol, you're in the right place, but they're just as happy to pour a glass of vermouth on ice, reflecting its growing popularity. There's a clear effort to offer drinks you won't easily find elsewhere, giving guests yet another reason to choose Törökméz.

The space feels comfortable and home-like, with cosy tables and benches, while the large glass windows flood the interior with natural light. The renewed Törökméz Budapest isn't just a morning spot either - it stays open until 7 pm, so you can choose from the menu well into the evening. Plans also include introducing more lunch-style main dishes, though a grilled sandwich or Eggs Benedict already works just as well in the morning, at midday, or later on.
