We found a breakfast spot in northern Pest near Árpád Bridge which, despite its small size, offers a wide variety of Hungarian specialties in one place, including soups from Házikó, bakery products from The Mill, jams from Csakamost, syrups from CsupaSzörp, and various snacks. Kiskifli also operates as a deli, so we can taste and shop here at the same time.

What makes a good breakfast place? Early opening hours, sweet and savory breakfasts in both filling and light variations, lots of coffee, and fresh fruit juice. Kiskifli, located near Árpád Bridge, meets all of the above criteria, and guarantees the highest quality by working together with Hungarian producers and suppliers.

Ági, Kiskifli’s energetic and cheerful owner, also works as a decorator at weddings – this is where she met people who turned out to be excellent confectioners. She also visits various markets as a hobby, and thus became acquainted with Csakamost, selling jams and creams, at kiskertpiac. By January, she came up with a background team and a concept.

Her goal was to offer health-conscious foods, and we’re not just talking about chia pudding and salads. Most dishes are available in lactose- and gluten-free versions, and we can order anything with alternative cheese, milk, or bread, not to mention Kiskifli’s smoothies, and the cold-pressed juices of Superjuice.

The selection features bakery goods and sandwiches, cakes, yogurts, and quiches. The bakery goods, including pistachio buns (490 HUF) and Belgian butter croissants, comes from the new bakery of one of Butter Brothers’s owners, The Mill. The croissant is served with homemade jam (350 HUF) from the aforementioned Csakamost; we tasted the chocolate-cherry and quince versions, as well as the basil-tomato pesto and the peach-horseradish jam – the latter two were served in a sandwich with matured ham (650 HUF).

Even after all this, there’s still more to taste. Ági told us about the cakes of Hello Sári and Zoltán Pap with sincere appreciation, some of which are always available in Kiskifli – although the selection is ever-changing.

Kiskifli is a genuine breakfast place, but it won’t disappoint at lunchtime, either – especially since they offer a lunch menu, featuring the daily soups of Házikó. Meanwhile, the coffee isn’t your regular brew, but a high-quality, light-roasted beverage (Carraro). The great selection of products and ingredients guarantees a pleasant stay. Drop by for breakfast and try the jams for the best experience!
