You just might get addicted to Rehab, the recently opened collaboration of Budapest’s 10R and West Coast Barbers, fusing a shop, café, and a place to get your hair cut. We’ve visited it on the opening night to find out if the ultimate men’s lair is located on Múzeum Boulevard in downtown Pest – and we are already craving another deliciously stylish fix there in the very near future.

According to the founders of Rehab, every man has different preferences in terms of shopping, barbers, or their outfit – they don’t have the same needs as women. And the venue, designed by Tímea Hadnagy, wasn’t just built with these things in mind; it has everything men can ask for: Rehab is a barber shop, a restaurant, and a clothes store. Not to mention that at the latter, you can only find brands that weren’t available in Hungary before: the Star Wars- or Chicago Bulls-themed socks of Stance, the Simpsons-inspired collection of Neff, or the special underwear of Saxx are just the waxing on the beard, because you can also find skateboards and sunglasses.Speaking of beards, the vibes are the same as at West Coast Barbers on Bartók Béla Boulevard: old-school hip-hop blasts from the speakers, sharp straight razors, a professional staff, and the smell of testosterone and wax lingers in the air. The comfortable leather chairs and the welcoming atmosphere remain too – but they are restricted to the stronger sex. Újbuda or Astoria, it doesn’t matter in one sense – only men can feel the touch of their cold steel on their faces.

Luckily, this rule does not apply to the restaurant – where you can order breakfast until 4pm, and you’d better do so! The founders are mad about biking, so every dish is nearly sugar- and gluten-free, while providing enough carbohydrates for the whole day.

The four different menus were named after the four biggest bicycle championships around the world, and they also represent the given country’s gastronomy: the Tour de Hongrie, for example, includes breakfast treats like a salami plate, paprika, tomato, and fried egg (1,350 HUF), while La Vuelta Espana can be a Catalonian omelet with toasted baguette (950 HUF) or an omelet with vegetables and Serrano ham in a tortilla with cheese (950 HUF). From Giro D’Italia, we recommend the ciabatta with olive cream served with prosciutto and pecorino cheese (1,100 HUF). Of course the coffee is also outstanding, and there is a lunch menu too – and from 4pm, as a real rehab, you can order tapas plates! What’s not to like about that?

It wouldn’t be true to say that Rehab is equally for both sexes, but still: if you had a hard time finding the perfect gift for your partner, brother, uncle, or father, that ends now – and if you lady readers want some free time, it’s a safe bet to leave your boyfriend here, especially if he could also use some rehab.Rehab
