After a long break, the favorite new-wave café of many Magyars, WarmCup, finally reopened on the premises of a popular downtown-Pest movie theater. The revived WarmCup has a fresh design and a wider food selection, but fortunately they still have the same brave, rebellious attitude toward ingenious java that we love about it. The quality of the coffee and the service didn’t change, and the friendly atmosphere remains, as well. We dropped by for a caffeine bomb.

After a long break, one of Budapest’s favorite cafés finally reopened – WarmCup, which was among the first new-wave spots to start popularizing filter coffees here in the Magyar metropolis. However, during their extensive break they rethought and developed many aspects of the business, and the result is a place unique even among the many specialtycafés of the city, where the relationship of man and coffee and the quality of service are the most important elements.

The cozy former location on Kertész Street is a thing of the past, as the new café opened on the premises of Art+ Cinema. However, WarmCup still operates separately from the movie theater, and not as a catering unit of the institution: for this reason, it will have a separate entrance soon.

Nonetheless, the nature of the location provides the team with new possibilities: such is the American-style kitchen, thanks to which guests can get insight into each segment of coffee and sandwich making, as well as the service. Taking advantage of the cinema’s infrastructure, they will also be able to organize film evenings featuring movies about coffee and baristas, as well as host lecture series.

The situation didn’t change regarding the coffee: WarmCup still prefers products roasted by Casino Mocca, and still puts great emphasis on filter coffees. However, they also managed to obtain a La Marzocco machine, which makes it a lot easier for them to make espresso.

At the new location, the prices remain reasonable, especially for the quality: an espresso is 450 forints, a cortado is 550 forints, a cappuccino is 600 forints, a latte is 650 forints, a filter coffee is 700 forints, a cascara is 550 forints, pastries are 350 forints, and sandwiches cost 620 forints.

For now, the place isn’t 100% complete – the interior design will be refined some more. Regardless, we think this new location is already a picture-perfect setting for enjoying fine coffee and films.
