The Hungarian Tipton brand is well-known for its creative solutions and unique sunglasses. As part of their collaboration with Sziget Festival, Europe’s largest music and culture event, they’ve designed customized frames for all of the headline acts: Robbie Williams, Ellie Goulding, Florence Welch, Martin Garrix, Alt-J, Avicii, and Kings Of Leon are the lucky ones who received a special gift box containing sunglasses with a custom Vinylize frame. How did they know what the artists will like?

“Unique glasses for unique persons,” says the motto of the Budapest-based Tipton Eyeworks brand, which was already popular amongst movie stars after Russell Brand started to wear one of their creations. As longtime fans of Tipton glasses, we were more than happy when they announced that they came up with something special for this year’s
Sziget Festival: custom-made sunglasses for seven of the headliners. Only one exists from each design, and they were especially created to fit the artists’ styles and personalities. The first time they created something like this was when the almighty Wu-Tang Clan performed at Budapest Park, and Mick Fleetwood also received a pair – that's how the idea of the collaboration with Sziget came about.

“Designing a Vinylize frame for one of Europe’s most sought-after artists is a daunting task,” says the Tipton team. “Our first course of action was to research Robbie by collecting images of him in eyewear. We took into account Robbie’s square jaw and hairline, characteristically thin mouth and straight brows. It quickly became clear that we needed to make him some Wellington-, square-, or teardrop-style frames.” And it was the same process for the other stars too – Tipton Vinylize attended to the smallest details when they were designing the Sziget shades.Of course the glasses aren’t made from just any secondhand vinyl they could find: each of them is made out of the artists’ own records, with the headliner’s name and the album’s title on the frame. They couldn’t be more personalized!
