New Year’s Eve can’t pass without a performance by popular Hungarian band the Budapest Bár, who will be giving two lively concerts on the A38 Ship on the last day of the year. Visitors can enjoy a filling, five-course dinner after the shows in the panoramic restaurant of the ship.

A38 Ship/Next Level & Bladerunnaz & Friday

Budapest’s most seasoned providers of bass sounds, Next Level and Bladerunnaz, take things way past midnight on the A38 Ship with their famous New Year’s Eve party. The event features 18 exponents and the whole world of bass: dubstep, d‘n’b, riddim, trap, jumpup, bass house, neurofunk, liquid and jungle.

Akvárium Klub/Galactic Edition & NECC PARTY

Experience time and space in three separate halls at the downtown Akvárium Klub with this ecstatic New Year’s Eve party. In the main hall, The NECC PARTY features the sounds of the ’90s and ’00s while the Small Hall will be blasting pop, rock and hip-hop hits. At the adjoining VOLT Lokál, dancing will be off the scale thanks to Gango and Mandycan.

Analog Music Hall/Stranger Synths NYE

This special retro event was inspired by the Netflix hit series Stranger Things, turning the Analog Music Hall in deepest Buda into the town of Hawkins with a retro-flavoured DJ set. Hosted all night long by Quixotic, the main pioneer of the Hungarian retro-wave scene, an audio-visual journey back to the ’80s is guaranteed.

ELTE Lágymányos Campus/Normafa NYE

The Normafa NYE edition returns to the Great Hall of ELTE University at Lágymányos with three musical genres, three stages and three floors, between Petőfi and Rákóczi Bridges on the Buda side near the A38 Ship. Given the theme, the Buda woodland of Normafa, the décor and visuals illustrate the great outdoors, though the whole party takes place safely indoors.

Fonó Club/Folk NYE

This year’s Folk New Year’s Eve celebration at the Fonó Club throws the stage open to Palatkaiak, Csávásiak, Fanfara Complexa and Erdőfű to keep the whole place dancing until 4am. You can reserve a table and enjoy dinner before the celebration, offered from 7pm to 10pm. The venue is way down in south Buda, on tram route numbers 1 and 41.

Garden Wonder/Hello 2020

Garden Wonder brings together a unique line-up of local and international artists for their mystical New Year’s Eve party, with an atmosphere that has allowed them to become one of the most outstanding musical happenings in Budapest. As always, the location is kept secret until the last minute.

Instant-Fogasház Complex/Random Trip

The Instant-Fogas party complex will be working at full tilt on the last day of the year – their Random Trip live event features a whole series of Hungarian artists from big-name local bands who will be performing on stage. Look out for MC Kemon from Irie Maffia, Iván Vitáris from Ivan & the Parazol and Gergő Drapos from Péterfy Bori & Love Band.

Mika Tivadar Mulató/Tilos NYE

Tilos Radio is back at the Mika Tivadar Mulató in the party quarter on New Year’s Eve, with energetic Tilos DJs on two floors, including venerable spinners such as Titusz, Palotai and Beáta Pozitiva. Admission of 2,000 forints goes towards supporting Tilos Radio, the independent station that grew out of the seminal Tilos underground music club that closed on New Year’s Eve 1994/95. Visitors are greeted with a basket of scones and can look forward to a Dynamite Dudes concert and a friendly vibe.
