Snowy days may be behind us for now, but winter in Budapest still has plenty to offer. From ice discos and winter sports to concerts, exhibitions and food-focused programmes, here’s what to do in the city between Friday and Sunday.

GENERALI FREEZE AND ROCK’A RAIL AT CITY PARK ICE RINK

Rock’a Rail is an urban, street-style ski and snowboard show that quite literally brings the mountains into the heart of the city. A creative rail course, spectacular tricks, live music and a true festival atmosphere await visitors. In 2026, Hungary will host the Rock’a Rail Snowboard European Cup for the first time, taking place between 9 and 11 January at the City Park Ice Rink. Alongside the competition, the Generali Freeze programme invites visitors to skate under evening lights to music, try out exciting winter sports, and enjoy the moment with a mug of mulled wine or hot tea in hand.

ICE DISCO AT BUDAPEST PARK KORIPARK

On 3, 9 and 18 January, skating at Budapest Park gets an extra twist with a series of ice discos. From afternoon until late evening, DJ Thomas sets the mood and the rhythm with his DJ sets, turning the rink into a proper winter party. What makes these events especially fun is that skaters can even help shape the soundtrack by requesting their favourite tracks, making the more than 2,200-square-metre ice surface — sparkling with fairy lights — feel like their own dance floor for a song or two, perfect for showing off your best moves on the ice.
