Markets, music, movies, and more — the weekend of 19–21 September promises plenty of reasons to head out and soak up Budapest.

Friday, 19 September

NEAPOLITAN PIZZERIA NIGHT

The Night of Neapolitan Pizzerias returns for the third time, with more than 50 venues joining across the country. On San Gennaro's Day, 19 September, between 5 pm and 10 pm, this pizza fiesta celebrates the Neapolitan classic. Participating pizzerias and restaurants will be offering three types of pizza at half price while stocks last. In Budapest, places taking part include Amore di Napoli, Salve' s pop-up, Tasty Pizzéria & Étterem, Monalizza, Forni di Napoli, both Circo locations, four MOTO venues, Fermento and Passata.

GO-JO (AU) LIVW ON THE A38 SHIP 

Go-Jo first shot to fame with his energetic covers, quickly amassing nearly 1.5 million followers on social media. By 2023, he had become the 9th most-streamed Australian artist worldwide. His smash hit  Mrs. Hollywood racked up over one billion streams, and soon he’ll represent his country at Eurovision with the delightfully mad  Milkshake Man. A truly versatile talent, Go-Jo will perform in Budapest for the very first time on19 September aboard the A38 Ship.

CHARITY NIGHT AT DÜRER KERT FOR THE FROM STREETS TO HOMES! ASSOCIATION

The From Streets to Homes! Association helps people experiencing homelessness and housing poverty move into social rental flats, offering ongoing support through social work. On 19 September, we can all contribute to ensuring their mission continues. The fundraising party at Dürer Kert will feature live performances from Kiscsillag, Slow Village, OIEE, LavaLava, and TerraKontra, with a DJ set from the iconic Anima Sound System. All proceeds go directly to supporting the association's programmes.

TIME OUT MARKET OPENING

Time Out Market Budapest officially opens this Saturday, 20 September, at the historic Corvin Palace on Blaha Lujza Square. With 11 kitchens, three bars, five event spaces and 540 seats, it's set to become one of Budapest's most exciting new destinations. The line-up includes 101 Bistro, Pingrumba, Anyukám Mondta, CANTEEN, Casa Christa, Bigfish, Tuning Burger, Hai Nam Phô Bistro, LIRA by Essência, M'EAT by Rácz Jenő, Szaletly.

SPIRITED AWAY AT BEM MOZI

On 20 September at 3.30 pm, Hayao Miyazaki's Oscar-winning masterpiece Spirited Away will be screened at Bem Mozi with English subtitles. Follow 10-year-old Chihiro as she stumbles into a magical world ruled by spirits, witches, and gods in this timeless anime classic. Tickets cost 2,500 HUF, with unreserved seating on a first-come, first-served basis.

KERALA DUST CONCERT

Psychedelic rock, desert blues, and pulsing techno—Kerala Dust blends it all into a sound that's cinematic, hazy, and irresistibly danceable. After their unforgettable DAAD performance, the London-born band is back in Budapest, this time taking over Akvárium Klub on 20 September. Expect a magnetic live show with founding members Edmund Kenny and Lawrence Howarth now joined by Tim Gardner on keys and Pascal Karier on drums. If you love moody, genre-defying music that moves both body and mind, Kerala Dust's return to the Hungarian capital is not to be missed.

BIG BOOK SALE AT KÖZKINCS KÖNYVTÁR COMMUNITY LIBRARY

If you love books and bargains, head to Közkincs Könyvtár Community Library this weekend for a big book sale, where you can browse second-hand treasures, discover new reads, and support the library at the same time. The sale takes place on Saturday, 20 September, from 11 am to 3 pm, and continues on Sunday, 21 September, from 10 am to 2 pm, when every book will be available for half-price. Make sure to bring cash, as cards are not accepted. Whether you're hunting for classics, hidden gems or just want to fill your shelves for autumn, this cosy community event is the place to be.

CULTURAL HERITAGE DAYS

The Cultural Heritage Days once again promise exciting programmes all across the country. On 21–22 September, you can peek inside historic landmarks, castles, churches, museums and many other fascinating sites. In Budapest, venues such as ELTE Radnóti Miklós Secondary School, the National Pedagogical Library and Museum, Kőbánya Mayor's Office, the Pension Insurance Headquarters and the Central Statistical Office will all open their doors. The event also features guided walks, themed tours, exhibitions, plus family and children's activities.

LIGET RUN 

On 21 September, Városliget transforms into a giant playground for the Liget Fun Run, where the course takes you not only through playful obstacles but also past some of the park's most iconic buildings – from the Museum of Ethnography to the House of Music Hungary and the House of the Hungarian Millennium. Now in its fifth edition, the event offers a 7 km route packed with 23 experience points and a 3.5 km trail featuring 14 adventures for all who love to get moving.
