The long, balmy spring evenings are finally back - the kind when we don't want to head home after a great dinner or a few cocktails. This year's favourite terraces in Buda include iconic spots like White Raven, JUNE, Fermento, Amore di Napoli, Főőrség, Cziniel's Római-part and Budakeszi locations, as well as Evezős Sörkert. Whether we're after open-air dining, laid-back afternoons, or lively summer evenings, these terrace spots are always a good idea.
White Raven Skybar & Lounge

For the past five years, White Raven has remained one of the defining spots of Budapest's spring and summer evenings. Perched at the top of the Castle District, the rooftop bar combines a 270-degree panorama, sunset views, and an elegant rooftop atmosphere overlooking the Parliament, the Danube, and the city lights below. This year's rooftop season revolves around colours, with White Raven's new signature cocktails inspired by different shades of Budapest - from the blue tones of the sky and glowing city lights to the lush green of Margaret Island. Alongside the visually striking yet refined drinks, it's worth ordering the light Asian-inspired dishes prepared with premium ingredients. Whether for sunset cocktails, a long spring evening, or a special night above the city, White Raven remains an ideal choice for those seeking sophisticated luxury, unique flavours, and breathtaking views.

JUNE Budapest

JUNE's terrace is exactly the kind of place where the pace of the city seems to slow down a little. With its greenery-covered corners, shaded seating, filtered sunlight, and effortless Mediterranean atmosphere, it's easy to settle in here for hours - whether arriving for a weekend brunch, a long lunch, or dinner. The kitchen draws inspiration from Middle Eastern flavours, serving vibrant and characterful dishes alongside comforting favourites worth returning for again and again. The space feels both open and intimate at the same time: sunlight filters through the leaves, conversations naturally unfold around the tables, and the afternoon quietly drifts into evening. JUNE isn't just a classic terrace spot - it's more of a mood that adapts to the rhythm of the day. During the spring and summer season, the terrace is open daily. Weekends bring brunch accompanied by live DJs every Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 2pm, creating a slow, sun-filled start to the day that easily stretches into the afternoon.

Főőrség Étterem és Kávéház

If we're looking to take a break while wandering through the Castle District, Főőrség Étterem és Kávéház offers the perfect setting for a coffee or a relaxed meal in a truly historic location. The terrace overlooks the beautiful Matthias Fountain, making it worth a visit for the view alone. Sipping on an iced coffee or clinking glasses of wine here comes with one of the most charming backdrops in Buda Castle. Főőrség is also an ideal family-friendly spot, something reflected in its latest menu offerings. Younger guests can enjoy crispy schnitzel, golden fries, and sweet pastries, while adults are treated to classic Hungarian dishes such as fragrant broth soups, creamy veal paprikash, and perfectly prepared steaks. Those with a sweet tooth shouldn't miss the császármorzsa or the homemade apple pie.
Tip: Before or after a leisurely lunch on the terrace, it's well worth taking a longer stroll around the Castle District and along the bastions.

Fermento

Fermento brings a little slice of Naples to Budapest's Víziváros neighbourhood. Starting from 24 May, the restaurant introduces its special Domenica Napoli (“Neapolitan Sunday”) pizza - a true rarity even in Italy, with Fermento becoming the first place in Hungary to serve it. The creation is essentially four pizzas in one: the dough is divided into four sections, each topped with classic Neapolitan dishes.
Tip: This speciality will only be available on selected days, in limited quantities and by pre-order only, so those who want to make sure they don't miss out should reserve in advance.
Another seasonal highlight arrives in early June, when Fermento launches a renewed menu featuring not only its classic Neapolitan pizzas but also a new line of gourmet-style Fermento signature pizzas. Fans of pizza fritta and freshly made arancini can also expect a few exciting additions. Tucked beneath the building's arcades, Fermento's terrace offers a pleasantly shaded retreat for the whole family - including four-legged companions.

Amore di Napoli

Since opening in 2021 on Karinthy Frigyes Road, Amore di Napoli has had one clear mission: to share its passionate love for Italian cuisine and transport guests to Naples with every slice of pizza. Their motto, “sempre con amore” - always with love - perfectly reflects the care, professionalism, and high-quality ingredients behind every dish. The restaurant's clean and minimalist design is only interrupted by the striking blue-and-white colours of the S.S.C. Napoli football club. This spring, the menu was renewed with an even wider selection of pizzas and pasta dishes, including several gourmet DOP pizzas. Another exciting addition is the arrival of giant premium Angus steaks ranging from 0.5 to 1 kilogram. Guests can now choose from tenderloin, T-bone, or Tomahawk steaks - assuming they can decide between all the tempting options on the menu.

Cziniel Római Cukrászda és Találkozóhely

Cziniel offers family-friendly terrace spaces at two locations - in Óbuda and Budakeszi - where the classic pastry shop experience is paired with brunch dishes, quality coffee, and a welcoming community atmosphere. These are places where conversations matter just as much as the cakes on display. Located near the Római-part on Nánási Road, Cziniel Római Cukrászda és Találkozóhely captures the laid-back charm the riverside area is known for. Its flower-filled terrace is the perfect spot for coffee, cake, ice cream, or brunch while enjoying the nearby Danube atmosphere. One of the terrace's biggest strengths is its versatility: it works equally well as a relaxing stop during a walk or bike ride, a meeting place for long conversations with friends, or a brunch destination where it's easy to linger for hours before or after exploring the area. Both the terrace and indoor space feel cosy and inviting, whether stopping by for a quick coffee or settling in for a longer catch-up. It's also both cyclist- and dog-friendly, making it an ideal stop during a bike tour or a walk with four-legged companions.

Cziniel Budakeszi Cukrászda és Kávéház

Cziniel Budakeszi Cukrászda és Kávéház has been reborn in the historic former Gesztenyés Nagyvendéglő building as a sweet new interpretation of the beloved Gesztenyéskert. Surrounded by greenery, the spacious shaded garden terrace - along with a separate ice cream terrace available during the summer season - was designed for long, relaxed gatherings spent outdoors. No matter the time of day, the unhurried atmosphere here makes every visit memorable, whether we're stopping by for a Sunday brunch, a light lunch or heartier main course, or simply a few slices of cake and creamy scoops of ice cream. From morning until evening, Cziniel Budakeszi welcomes guests in a warm, family-friendly setting. The large garden area also makes it an especially good choice for groups and bigger family occasions. It's the kind of place that quickly becomes a favourite - and one we'll likely never want to leave.

Evezős Sörkert

Evezős Sörkert captures exactly the kind of laid-back riverside atmosphere where families, groups of friends, and dog owners can all comfortably share the space while finding their own rhythm by the water. Its spacious terrace on the Római-part blends relaxed summer energy with a menu that balances traditional Hungarian favourites and modern street food classics. Here, a comforting bowl of fisherman's soup or soft túrógombóc fits just as naturally into the terrace experience as a juicy burger, grilled shrimp skewers, or cheesy snacks - all accompanied, of course, by cocktails that effortlessly carry the evening into the night. As we already highlighted in our April article, Evezős Sörkert's real charm lies in the fact that it's far more than just a dinner spot. It functions as a lively summer community space where the programmes are just as important as the food and drinks. Throughout the season, visitors can enjoy free events ranging from family-friendly daytime activities for children to music-filled evenings with a relaxed party atmosphere, where the soundtrack complements rather than overpowers the conversations and easy-going Danube-side summer mood.
