JAZZ AND WINE FESTIVAL 2026

The Jazz and Wine Festival returns for its third edition between 22 and 25 May at the Margitsziget Open-Air Theatre, where visitors can sample a curated selection of wines. The lineup includes internationally renowned singers Mario Biondi and Kurt Elling, alongside Hungarian performers such as the László Attila Fusion Circus, Budapest Ragtime Band, and Easy Jazz Band.

INTERMEZZO FESTIVAL

Returning on 22 May, Intermezzo Festival kicks off the summer season with a mix of underground concerts, contemporary installations, and workshops. The lineup brings together some of the most exciting local names across alternative pop, hip-hop, and electronic music, creating a diverse, multi-layered programme.

The Gozsdu Court market fills the passageway with vintage pieces, handmade goods, jewellery and street food. Even a simple coffee and wander here easily turns into an afternoon plan.

PIZZA MANUFAKTÚRA X FREYJA: AN ITALIAN DAY AT FREYJA THE BAKERY

On 23 May, Pizza Manufaktúra and Freyja the Bakery are joining forces for a one-day Italian-themed event at Freyja's Csarnok Square location. Guests can expect fresh focaccia, tiramisu, affogato, cappuccino, and €1 espresso served throughout the day. The focaccia will be baked by Freyja's team, while the toppings are prepared on-site by Pizza Manufaktúra. Alongside the special programme, the bakery's regular selection will also remain available.

TRANSITION OPEN AIR PARTY AT DÜRER KERT

The audiovisual festival Transition Open Air returns to Dürer Kert with immersive visual elements, outdoor installations, and intense musical experiences across four stages running simultaneously. The lineup includes OIEE, Toldyuuso, Fllozz, the Syndanz crew, while Lili Stern will also take the stage with a live performance. Entry to the event is free.

PAPI PICNIC AND SEEDLING MARKET AT PAPI RESTAURANT & FARM

PAPI Restaurant & Farm will host the very first PAPI Picnic and Seedling Market in its garden on 23 May. The nature-focused event revolves around picnicking, seasonal dishes, and ingredients sourced directly from the farm's own garden. Pre-order picnic baskets designed for two will be filled with homemade delicacies, fresh pastries, spreads, vegetables, and desserts, with vegetarian versions also available. Guests will also have the chance to purchase freshly grown seedlings during the event.

WINE & SPARKLING FESTIVAL AT SZABADSÁG TÉR

The Belvárosi Wine & Bubble Festival returns to Szabadság tér to open the summer season with a six-day open-air celebration in the heart of the city. Bringing together some of Hungary's top wineries and sparkling producers, the event pairs standout pours with quality street food and relaxed early-summer vibes - an easy choice for long weekend catch-ups, sunset glasses, and spontaneous toasts under the trees.

VÖRÖSMARTY SPRING 2026

Between 1 and 25 May, Vörösmarty tér is transformed into one of Budapest's most vibrant gathering spots through the revival of folk traditions. Visitors can look forward to nearly 60 programmes, including a dedicated proposal point, folk and industrial craft exhibitors, live music, dance performances, themed weekends, and a wide range of gastronomic experiences.

The next ReMarket event will take place in the courtyard of Hengermalom, organised by Industrial Lamp Budapest. At the community flea market on 24 May, visitors can browse through a curated selection of vintage, retro, mid-century, antique, and folk items.

WINE TASTING IN PÁTY OR ETYEK

If you feel like escaping the city on Pentecost Monday, the wine cellars around Páty and nearby Etyek make an ideal slower-paced programme. Expect small family wineries, countryside terraces and relaxed afternoon tastings just 30-40 minutes from Budapest - perfect for ending the long weekend with good wine and spring scenery.

EXPLORE HIDDEN GARDENS AND COURTYARDS 

If you are staying in the city for the extra holiday day, Pentecost Monday is perfect for discovering some of Budapest's quieter spring terrace spots. From leafy hidden courtyards to secret garden cafés tucked away behind busy streets, places like Furmint Borbár or Brody House offer a calmer way to spend the long weekend afternoon.
