Budapest Photo Festival

Over six weeks, BudapestPhotoFestival is bringing 50 exhibitions to town from 28 March to 11 May, showcasing both Hungarian and international photographers. And the best part – the majority of these exhibitions are completely free (except for traditional museum spaces). Expect raw, unfiltered street photography in Parallel Hungary, a sleek collection of work from five standout Hungarian photographers in Leica 5x5, and a deep dive into the clash between nature and city life in Urban Jungle. Rollercoaster captures the highs, lows and messy beauty of growing old together, while Fresh Meat serves up bold, fresh takes from the next generation of photographers all under 35.

Cherry blossom

One of the most breathtaking signs of spring is when the almond, plum, and Japanese cherry trees burst into bloom, covering the city in shades of white and pink. It's the kind of sight you simply have to see (and snap a photo of), and April is the perfect time to catch the sakura, or cherry blossoms, at their peak. While there are plenty of spots around the city to admire them, the most stunning locations have to be the Tóth Árpád sétány in the Buda Castle, the Buda Arboretum, and Széllkapu Park – and the best part is, entry is completely free. The promenade's full bloom is still on its way, but at the other two spots, the trees are already showing off in all their glory.
Free concerts at Akvárium Terrace

The Bartók Spring festival is in full swing, bringing a series of intimate (and free!) concerts to the Akvárium terrace. From 4 to 10 April, expect unforgettable open-air performances from Felefánt (aka half of Elefánt) and Márk Járai, alongside Daniel Docherty, the Platon Karataev duo, and Co Lee. Perfect for soaking up the spring vibes with some seriously good music.

Wish You Were Ear – animated film screening and discussion
The event on 10 April promises to be exciting for several reasons: first, we'll have the chance to explore the new community incubator house in the 8th district, Nyolcésfél. On the 4th floor at the Terike Workshop, we can watch Mirjana Balogh's animated short film, "Wish You Were Ear". After the screening of the film, which won the Crystal Bear at the Berlinale, there will be a discussion with the director about the making of the film.
Clothes Swap at Kesztyűgyár

Kesztyűgyár is a cool community space in Budapest's 8th district, known for hosting awesome events like its regular clothes swap. On 25 April, you can hunt for treasures while passing on your own – whether it's clothes, books, shoes, or accessories. Plus, don't miss out on the recycling workshops for a creative, eco-friendly touch.
