Dolce Fantasia Gelateria Italiana - brioche ice cream sandwich
At Dolce Fantasia Gelateria Italiana, authentic Italian artisan gelato is served in an unexpected way: tucked inside a brioche bun instead of a cone. This isn't the rich, buttery brioche familiar in Hungary, but a softer, airier pastry with a texture reminiscent of panettone. The freshly baked bun is filled not with scoops but with silky Italian gelato spread in the traditional way using a spatula. Alongside classic flavours such as chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, pistachio and lemon, seasonal specials like caramelised fig and walnut or mango yoghurt regularly appear. Fruit flavours are made as dairy-free sorbets, and there's always a sugar-free option on offer as well.

Macaron Heaven Manufactory - giant macaron ice cream sandwich
At Macaron Heaven, ice cream comes sandwiched between oversized macarons, creating desserts that are as eye-catching as they are indulgent. Flavours change weekly and range from a nostalgic three-flavour ice cream sandwich to raspberry cottage cheese, a French cream cake-inspired creation and the signature Green Gold of Őrség. Expect crunchy coatings, soft sponge, silky sauces and creamy ice cream layered into every bite. One thing to remember: these limited-edition treats aren't displayed in the ice cream counter - you'll need to order them separately at the cashier.

Begi Coffee & Cake - monster ice cream slush
Begi's adorable Monster Bingsu is guaranteed to brighten even the hottest summer day. A playful take on the traditional Korean dessert, it's made from feather-light, snow-like ice flakes that melt instantly on the tongue, creating a silky, creamy texture rather than the crunchy consistency of a classic slush. While bingsu is traditionally topped with ingredients like fresh fruit, condensed milk and syrups, Begi has reimagined it in its own charming style, serving it as cute little monster-shaped creations that are as photogenic as they are refreshing. Flavours include taro, chocolate, strawberry, mango, sea salt cheese, matcha, blueberry and milk tea, making every visit a chance to try a new favourite.

Málna The Pastry Shop - ice cream in a cotton candy cloud
Málna's standout creation this summer is equal parts pastry masterpiece and edible performance. The Ballerina Ice Cream features three scoops of homemade ice cream wrapped in a freshly spun cotton candy "skirt," transforming the cone into a delicate ballet tutu. Inspired by the owners' love of ballet, the dessert is as charming as it is delicious. For those eager to explore further, the pastry shop also offers ice cream sundaes inspired by classic Hungarian desserts such as krémes, Dobos cake and English trifle, reimagined in a lighter, less sugary and wonderfully refreshing form.

Each capsule contains a perfectly portioned serving - roughly the equivalent of two and a half scoops - eliminating both waste and melted leftovers. Flavours include chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, frozen yoghurt, as well as vegan mango and strawberry sorbets. Fast, fun and remarkably creamy, it's proof that even ice cream can still surprise us with new ways to enjoy it.
