Turkish Garden
In addition to its buildings, Buda Castle's gardens and fountains were also renovated, resulting in the creation of the Turkish Garden. This secluded spot is revealed in full splendour as you walk down the Stöckl steps. It adds a touch of the Orient to the wonderful surroundings, with figs ripening and beautiful roses blooming in the shade of the walls and between the fountains.

Rose Garden on Margaret Island
The rose garden on Margaret Island is one of Budapest's most iconic spots for admiring roses. This lovely green zone features veteran trees dating back to the early 19th century when the island was the estate of Palatine Josep. Not only did he plant trees but he also established the island's first rose garden, giving the area a 200-year-old tradition of beautiful flora. The current rose garden, a short and pleasant walk from both entrances to the island, has become even more lush, making it well worth the stroll.

The former Olof Palme House has been revived as the House of the Hungarian Millennium, boasting a magical garden of 1,500 rose trees planted at its entrance. It's hard to decide which is more beautiful – the Zsolnay-tiled building or the surrounding flowers – but luckily, you don't have to choose; you can admire both simultaneously. Explore old and modern varieties, including roses that like partial shade and ones that like the hot sun.

Rózsák tere (Square of Roses)
The name of Rózsák tere comes from the legend of Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia, the namesake of the church located here, as roses play a major role in her story. The sacred building named after her is also rich in rose motifs, and the park around it complements the site beautifully. You can catch a glimpse of the gorgeously coloured roses from trolley bus 76 on the way from downtown to Keleti Railway Station, but it's worth stopping to enjoy their fragrance up close. This year, the blooming season might be a bit delayed as the roses have just been replanted.
